Pixilib was founded by a nuclear medicine physician: we build software to solve problems in our own area of expertise. At Pixilib, we like projects that meet four conditions.
Addressing real-world problems
Our software development always starts with a real problem to solve. We are not interested in making the Nth flavour of an existing solution: we want to create solutions for unresolved problems in medical imaging.
Driven by experts
We follow projects driven by experts in their field. We like projects that have a vision: a starting point and a long-term roadmap to create innovation.
Involving users at an early stage
All the software we build involves users from the early stages of development. We learn so much from users that we cannot imagine working any other way. User feedback reveals the challenges to address, even when it is tough, and it is our guarantee that our software will meet expectations.
Even without a market
As a company, we make sure that our investments in software development will meet market demand someday. However, our projects are not driven only by market opportunities. Sometimes we know a project will not generate any income, but it is a chance to grow our expertise and a path towards a market need in a long-term vision.
Innovation
At Pixilib, we want to create something new, not be the Nth software company serving an existing solution.
That is why we like taking on real-world problems and building our own solutions. This way, we follow our own path and drive innovative solutions: this is our contribution to making the medical ecosystem more competitive.
Competitors are a source of inspiration for us. We look at how they tried to solve known issues in medical imaging, to understand what still needs to be solved and what we can do differently or more efficiently.
We also hope to be a source of inspiration for our competitors, and thus help medical imaging progress faster.
User Experience First
Rather than features, we focus on user experience.
Features are specs for our developers. We like building full-featured software, but what we really provide is a user experience.
This user experience guides us when developing solutions: our users test our prototypes, and we adapt whenever we see a misunderstanding of our tools.
Sometimes we also need to push our vision and encourage users to change their processes, so they can take full advantage of our software tools.
We are a software company, but also a driver of a new vision for medical imaging in research and education.
Collaboration
Our real-world problem and user-experience-first approach makes collaboration part of Pixilib's DNA.
Our solutions have been published, or have helped papers get published, many times. We have collaborated with many researchers and institutions across the world, and this is what we are most proud of.
Independence
As of today, Pixilib has no investors: we are a bootstrapped company. This gives us total freedom to pursue our long-term vision for medical imaging.
We may one day need investors' support to scale, but we will choose our timing. For now, we still have our roadmap to complete, with our user- and collaboration-based approach.
